I guess in terms of numbers the European Bug-In, held in Chimay, Belgium over the weekend, was a deffinate success. The place was rammed on the Saturday and Sunday but not so much on the Friday. The weather possibly had a part in that seeing as we experienced flash floods and lightning but luckily for the event this cleared up by Saturday morning with blistering sunshine breaking through.
The thing with Bug-in though is the fact there isn’t much to do other than look round about 300 plus show cars or watch the nostalgia drag raceing VWs blast down the quarter-mile strip in 10 seconds.
The off-road section was a welcome attraction but we can’t help feel the show needs more.
We were glad to see they hada greater selection of food stalls this year though – I don’t know about you but I can’t survive on chips and mayo alone for three days!
